    Single-ply Yarn Calculations

    Determining the number in spinning plays an important role in determining the quality of the yarn made. It is not desired that the finished and semi-finished products are not in the expected number or deviations in the number.

    Number control in spinning ensures that the errors related to the process are determined and the necessary adjustments are made on the machine. In order for the yarn to be formed at the desired values, the number control of the semi-finished product and the product is carried out at all production stages up to the yarn. The physical controls of the yarn are made in the physical tests laboratory of the enterprises. Certain conditions are necessary for the tests to be performed in the laboratory to be reliable.

    Just as every garment has a size according to the human body (such as small, medium, large) or (X, M, L, XL), just as the shoes, slippers, etc. we wear on our feet have a number according to whether our feet are small or large;

    We determine by number whether the card band, draw frame band, roving band and yarn are thin or thick. Here we call this number Card band number, Drawer band number, Roving strip number and yarn number.

    Ply Yarn Calculations

    The yarn, which consists of two or more yarns being folded and twisted together, is called plied (floater) yarn.

    These yarns are obtained in doubling and twisting machines. These yarns are produced for the following purposes:

    >>> Obtaining more durable yarn

    >>> Obtaining smoother yarn

    >>> To give a color effect to the yarn

    >>> To obtain fancy yarn with certain properties by twisting yarns of different colors, types and numbers.

    Length and Weight Unit Systems

    LENGTH UNITS

    Most of the world uses the metric system of measurement standardized by the International System of Units (SI). British measurement units were officially replaced by the metric system in England in 1995. However, it is observed that the old measurement units are still used in daily life. British measurement units also formed the basis of the American measurement system. The metric system is used in Turkey.

    WEIGHT UNITS

    Kilogram

    The kilogram is the basic unit of measure of mass in the International System of Units (SI). Kilograms are abbreviated as “kg”. Kilogram is used for weight measurement. Before being accepted as a constant etalon mass in 1889, kg was defined as the mass of 4 dm³ of pure water at +1 °C. In the same year, the cylindrical etalon (legal measurement model) made of iridium and platinum, 39 mm in diameter and 39 mm in height, located in the International Bureau of Weights and Measures in Paris, the capital of France, was accepted as equal to the mass of the object..Weighing instruments are used to detect the weight. Some of these are those;

     Conversion of Thread Counts

    Conversion of yarn numbers to each other is an important issue in terms of fabric analysis and fabric design calculations. Because in calculations, the yarn number must be in Number Metric. Well; The yarn count you will use can be 40 Ne, 60 Nd, 40 Nike, 40 Ntex or different numbers, types and units.

    Yarns numbered in the Length Numbering system

    The yarn, 1000 grams of which is 1000 grams, is Number 1 Metric. ( nm )

    The yarn that comes in 1000 grams per 500 meters is Number 1 French. ( nf )

    The yarn, 512 meters of which is 453,6 grams, is British Worsted No. 1 yarn. (Nic)

    The yarn weighing 234 meters, 453,6 grams, is British Strayhgarn. (Nisht)

    The yarn, which is 768 meters 453,6 grams, is Number 1 British Cotton. (nip)

    The yarn size of 274 Meters, 453,6 Grams is British Linen.( Nike )
