Jacquard Patterning Techniques
  • Jacquard Patterning Techniques

It is a technique used in obtaining colored motif fabrics. A surface is created by using loop and skipping movement on fabrics. Hanging movement is not used. Jacquard patterning techniques are divided into 5 main groups among themselves.

    These ;

    1-Jump Jacquard

    2-Full Jacquard

    3-Mesh Jacquard

    4-Pique Jacquard

    5-Bag jacquard

Techniques. In these techniques, the appearance on the front surface of the fabric does not change, but it is necessary to look at the back surface of the fabrics to understand the difference between them, and the back surface appearance of the fabrics differs according to the techniques used.

    1-Jump Jacquard

It is a single-plate knitting technique. The yarns knit on the relevant needles according to the desired jacquard pattern, and the other needles do not perform any operation and pass through.

For example, as seen in the figure, in a pattern in the '2A2B' color report, first the 'A' color knits on the first two needles and passes without knitting on the other two needles. This process continues in the desired needle range. It is completed by knitting on the needle.

    2-Full Jacquard

It is a double plate technique. The needles on the front plate perform the knitting process on the relevant needles according to the pattern we have, and on all the needles on the back plate. When looking at the back of the fabric, it is seen that there are transverse lines on top of each other as the number of colors used in the pattern.

    3-Bag Jacquard

It is a double plate technique. The threads knit on the corresponding needles on the front plate according to the pattern. Other needles knit on the corresponding back plate. The point to be considered in this technique should be ensured that the same yarn does not knit on both the front and back plate at the same time. In fabrics knitted with this technique, it is seen that there is a gap between the fabric when it is held and pulled from both sides at the same time.

    4-Pique Jacquard

It is a double plate technique. The yarns knit on the relevant needles according to the pattern on the front plate, and on the back plate, the colors used in the pattern are lined up side by side to perform the knitting process.

    5-Mesh Jacquard

It is a double plate technique. The yarns knit on the relevant needles on the front plate according to the pattern we have, and do not perform any operation on the other needles. On the back plate, some needles are canceled and they can not be included in knitting without any action throughout the pattern. Knitting is performed on other needles, except for these needles whose yarns are canceled on the back plate.
